The purpose of a body wrap is to condition the skin inside and out. The process works through osmosis. Treatments are placed onto the skin followed by heat application, which makes the skin respire (breath). This inhale exhale motion of the skin brings treatment in and toxins out.
There are various skin conditioning techniques used in body treatments. They include moisturization, exfoliation, and detoxification to name a few. Clay is often applied to the skin and micro currents such as galvanic and faradic can be used as well. Clients are sometimes wrapped in a gauze like application to promote lymphatic stimulation. Most often they are then cocooned in a warm blanket, or far infrared heat.
Body wraps can be gentle and relaxing, or uncomfortable and restictive. Techniques vary, so know what your getting into before you proceed. The outcome is soft conditioned skin and a feeling of rejuvination. Detoxification and inch loss are often achieved as well with a series of treatments. That’s a Wrap!
